Please Note: From November 2007 through January2008 I was traveling in New Zealand, and from February through December 2008 I completed my Ph.D. in early modern European history at The University of Toledo.

Project Objectives:

  •  Upgrade forty (40) windows servers to Windows 2003 (Standard, Enterprise, or Data Center), and make sure all other server applications were up-to-date and functioning properly

  •  Clean up and maintenance Active Directory of 600 PCs and 2000+ users in preparation for switching to Native Mode

  •  Setup clustered systems to increase redundancy for critical systems, such as, Great Plains, Exchange 2003, and MS SQL server

  •  Research, get bids for, and implement standard antivirus package for server complex and PCs – Choices came down to Symantec and Trend Micro; we chose Symantec due to price, institutional familiarity with the product, and the reduced footprint of Symantec’s most recent client

Additional support role included:

  •  Administer MS DHCP, DNS and ISA Server 2006

  •  Support Apache HTTP Server running on Redhat Linux 5 Enterprise server

  •  Lead project to research and implement other Microsoft enterprise software, such as, SharePoint, SMS and BizTalk Servers

  •  Support applications specific to the hotel and gaming industries, such as, InfoGenesis Revelation, Bally GameKeeper and New Market Delphi

From the summer of 2001 until the end of 2006 I completed the coursework for my Ph.D. in history at The University of Toledo. While doing this I taught at The University of Toledo and several community colleges around Toledo. I also worked as an independent contractor for several companies. Below is a list of those companies and a description of the work I performed for them.

  • Stephen T. Priestap, Attorney at Law – Performed general network administration, PC support, web development, legal applications support, and any other computer-related tasks

  • Meldrum Mechanical Services, Toledo, Ohio – Website development, PC and server support, and high-speed network setup and support

Lotus Domino Migration Manager
Dana Corporation
Maumee, OH

January 2000 -  July 2001

  •  Acted as liaison between divisions in the U.S., Mexico, and Canada and the Global Information Technology Group (GITG) in Maumee, OH

  •  Provided direct oversight and technical support for multiple divisions, representing approximately 2,500 users, in an enterprise-wide move to Lotus Domino on an IBM RS6000 AIX clustered platform

  •  Developed and documented company-wide policies and standards regarding usage of Lotus Domino environment

  •  Consulted on upgrade projects instrumental to deploying Lotus applications, such as, QSI (QS9000 compliance), Intelliwatch, INotes, Citrix, SameTime and Stampede's Turbo Gold

  •  Developed Lotus Script applications used to automate transfer of user accounts and files from Lotus R/4 platform to Lotus Domino

  •  Setup and tested multiple LINUX and Windows 2000 servers for use in Dana’s enterprise-wide Lotus Domino infrastructure

  •  Setup root Windows 2000 server for initial implementation of Active Directory Service (multiple domains)

  •  Directly oversaw the administration and support of over one two hundred computers in an environment running Windows NT/2000

  •  Supported Macintosh OS in a Windows NT/2000 and NetWare environment

  •  Evaluated and assisted in migration from GroupWise to MS Exchange and support of MS Exchange after migration

  •  Developed MS Access and SQL databases for use of department staff

  •  Designed and maintained departmental websites for internal and external use

  •  Provided technical training for staff, faculty and students as needed

  •  Set policies and guidelines regarding the use of equipment and software

  •  Served on university committees as requested

  •  Served as liaison between IT department and different university departments to which assigned, this included providing the IT department with concerns and technical wishes of each department

Lima City Schools, Lima, Ohio - deployed six (6) high-end IBM servers running Lotus Domino R\5 at the Lima City Schools’ ISP and four schools for use in CHIP educational program, and trained staff on use of Domino-based CHIP program

Boise Marketing Services, Maumee, Ohio – reorganized fourteen high-end Compaq servers, standardized configurations for 400 Windows and Macintosh machines, improved performance of Exchange 5.5 server through maintenance of mail store and reconfiguration of RAID system
